[my blue garnet volume 1 cover]

i've recently caught up with "my blue garnet" by akiyama haru and i've been really enjoying it. (if you're not familiar with her already, she wrote octave!)

i HIGHLY recommend it to people who are looking for a josei yuri focusing on adults!! it might actually have climbed it's way into my top 5 yuri manga i love it that much

the best way i can describe it is an exploration of codependence and the act of using someone else to complete you.

the themes are depicted so well, every character is so compelling, and the art and dialogue can be simple but incredibly evocative and does SO well at expressing emotion

for people who have played life is strange, the main characters also remind me a lot of max and chloe and rachel: a shy, insecure girl meets an unconventional free spirit who is trying to find her mysteriously charming missing lover

if you enjoyed that part of life is strange and want to see it focused on more in depth, then my blue garnet will be perfect for you!

again, i cannot recommend this enough! i can't wait to see how it carries out in future!
